The Recession has not Affected the Rubber Chicken Industry

So, the Big Wigs in DC decide to parade the evil capitalists from the banking industry and the auto industry out in front of the American people and publicly flog them. I can't say that I really blame them nor am I really opposed to such public spectacle (let's bring back the public gallows while we're at it...Perhaps Bernie Madoff can be it's first victim). Recently, President Obama spoke about how "outrageous" it is for executives to have trips to Las Vegas. However, it appears that criticism does not apply for his former colleagues on the Hill. The men and women there seem to have no issue with lavish fundraisers held at ski resorts in Wyoming and beach resorts in Hawaii.

And they talk about the ridiculous salaries these CEOs make. The economy is in shambles and no one is pleased with the performance of corporations, so no executives should be getting raises or bonuses! Interesting how Congress' approval rating has been circling the bowl for quite a while, yet they have no problems voting to give themselves raises. Why don't we make Congress jump through the same hoops Public School Systems have to in order to get more funding? Put it on the ballot. You want an increase, let the board of directors (aka: the American People) decide if they think Congress deserves it. It would be very interesting if Congress and the rest of the Federal Government had to play by the same rules as the rest of us. Anyone else getting mad as hell at the typical politician "do as I say, not as I do" mentality? I know I am.
