Let me preface this with I do not think that the Oil Spill is the Administration's fault (neither Bush nor Obama) and I don't think it's Congress' fault either (even though it appears that President Obama is blaming them for inaction on his inaction). However, if it is true that the Dutch offered to help days after the rig explosion, and the Administration did say "thanks, but no thanks" as this editorial from the Washington Examiner posits, then this is a true dereliction of duty.
The United States is always willing to help out any nation in a time of crisis, even when the destruction is at our own hand. But we cannot do it all. If this opinion piece is true, why didn't Obama seek assistance from the Dutch? Is it truly because of some bureaucratic Act from almost a century ago? Again, I do not blame the political establishment for the spill. BP stands alone in that area. But if big government is getting in the way of a concerted effort to clean-up the spill, then that fact that is is endangering wildlife and livelihoods across the Gulf coast, then that is on the Administration's shoulders for sure!
And if you think that this can't possibly be true...That the Administration of Hope and Change could not let some antiquated law stand in the way of the clean-up. That the Washington Examiner has gotten it wrong due to it's Red-tinted glasses, Time Magazine shows this is, indeed, the case.
